Order books have opened for new Geely EX5 SUV
Pre-orders have started for the new, all-electric Geely EX5 SUV, as the parent company of Volvo and Lotus arrives as a standalone brand in the UK.
Despite owning several familiar marques, the EX5 is the first Geely-badged vehicle bound for the UK, and is a C-segment SUV aimed squarely at the likes of the Skoda Enyaq, the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and other similar vehicles from China such as the Leapmotor C10.
The Geely EX5 is priced from £31,990 for the entry-level SE model, and is available with either a 49.5kWh battery or a 60.2kWh unit offering a maximum WLTP range of 267 miles. With a 160kW DC charger, the Geely EX5 can be charged from 30-80% in 20 minutes.
With “features inspired by ancient Chinese architecture and furniture design”, the front-wheel drive-only Geely EX5 is well-equipped inside and out.
Automatic LED headlights, a roof rack, rain-sensing wipers, and rear privacy glass come as standard, along with a choice of either 18-inch or 19-inch low-drag alloy wheels depending on the model.
In terms of tech, Geely includes vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle power supply, ventilated and massaging front seats, 256-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone air-conditioning, plus an anti-viral air filter for the cabin. While Apple CarPlay is standard with the Geely EX5, Android Auto is only available as a third-party add-on.
Geely offers the EX5 and its battery with a 6+2 year, 125,000-mile warranty. A year’s worth of 24/7 road-side assistance is also included, as is two years’ worth of 4G data.
Opening pre-orders for the EX5, Geely also announced that it was partnering with British home charger firm Andersen, to offer customers a free wallbox with any car ordered before October 23.
The complimentary 7kW Andersen A3 home charger is finished in a Cheltenham Graphite metal finish with Geely badging, and will be installed by an Andersen-trained technician at no extra cost.
Regarding the tie-up with Andersen, Mike Yang, Geely UK general manager commented: “Geely Auto UK is committed to making its mark in the demanding UK market. We believe we have the right cars to do that but we want to make sure we offer the best service to our customers across the whole ownership experience.
“We’re proud to be working with Andersen as its chargers reflect our own values and will provide our first customers with the best charging experience.”
David Martell, Andersen CEO, added: “Partnering with a leading automotive company such as Geely Auto is an honour. With the EX5, Geely is clearly focused on delivering a high-quality EV that provides a premium user experience. We believe this focus on quality and design is a perfect match for the Andersen A3.”
