New long-range Skoda Enyaq SE L 85 qualifies for UK Government EV grant
Skoda has added a new Enyaq SE L 85 trim level to its all-electric Enyaq SUV range, bringing the price of 82kWh battery models down to just under £42,000 with the application of the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG).
The £1,500 ECG reduces the OTR cost of the Enyaq SE L 85 to £41,980 making it the cheapest long-range model in the Enyaq family. Combined with its single motor set-up, the rear-wheel drive Enyaq SE L 85 can achieve 359 miles on a full charge from its 82kWh battery.
The Skoda Enyaq SE L 85’s dedicated MEB EV platform developed by parent company VW allows for charging speeds of up to 135kW, meaning a 10-80% charge can be completed in 28 minutes. Skoda’s Tesla Model Y rival packs 286bhp, launching the Enyaq SE L 85 from 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 111mph.
Sitting atop the ECG-qualifying Enyaq range, the SE L 85 is positioned above the SE L 60 with its smaller, 63kWh battery and the Edition 60 powered by the same 63kWh unit. Nonetheless, the mid-level Enyaq comes well equpped.
To ensure maximum range and efficiency, the Skoda Enyaq SE L comes with 19-inch ‘Proteus’ alloys Step inside, and a 13-inch infotainment screen sits atop the centre of the dash, while heated front seats, a steering wheel, tri-zone climate control, and Skoda’s monochrome ‘Loft’ interior package come as standard.
SE L customers will also benefit from predictive adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, travel assist, and keyless entry with walk-away locking. An electric ‘virtual’ boot pedal is included. Fitting in with the Czech brand’s ‘Simply Clever’ philosophy, the Enyaq SE L retains the umbrellas hidden in its doors, plus an ice scraper inside the boot’s inner panel as standard.
Skoda offers customers wishing to bolster the spec of their Enyaq SE L with a ‘Plus’ package. This £2,500 option adds full LED matrix beam headlights, and LED rear lights with animated indicators. Interior add-0ns are an electrically-adjustable drivers seat with memory and massage function, along with rear side airbags and manual blinds for the rear windows.
The Enyaq isn’t the only model to benefit from the Electric Car Grant. When the £1,500 discount is applied, the Elroq is available from £30,210. Neither the flagship Enyaq vRS nor the Elroq vRS qualify for the ECG.
