Hyundai Ioniq 9 UK priced from £64,995 with up to 385 miles of range

Hyundai has announced the full UK pricing and specificiations for its flagship Ioniq 9 SUV, with prices starting from £64,995 when it arrives on British shores later this year.

Available as either a six- or seven-seater, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 will come in three trim levels, entry-level Premium, mid-range Ultimate, and top-tier Calligraphy. The rear-wheel-drive Premium car starts at £64,995, and is powered by a 215bhp motor returning 258lb ft of torque and a 385-mile range.

Across the line-up, the Ioniq 9 is supremely well equipped. Despite being the ‘base’ model car, the Premium benefits from 19-inch alloy wheels, the Ioniq brand’s signature ‘pixel’ head and tail lights, flush-fit automatic door handles, and an electric tailgate.

Inside, there’s tri-zone climate control, combined 24.6-inch screens (12.3 inches each) for the driver display and infotainment, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, plus leather and wool upholstery on the seats and dashboard. In terms of tech, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, along with two 100W USB-C charging ports in the second and third rows of seats, and three up front for the driver and passenger.

The £73,495 Ultimate is only available with a twin-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain generating 303bhp and 446lb ft of torque. Despite the uptick in performance, this configuration sees range drop just slightly to an impressive 372 miles. Enhancements over the Premium model include 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, a head-up display, active road noise cancelling, a Bose sound system, full leather upholstery with massaging seats, heated and ventilated front and middle-row seats, plus an electronically-folding third-row.

Step up to the flagship £75,795 Calligraphy model, and 21-inch wheels, body-coloured wheel arches, trim level-specific bumper and side skirt graphics are thrown in. Inside, the Ioniq 9 Calligraphy gets Nappa leather upholstery, a two-tone steering wheel, and a sterilization tray designed to eliminate 99.9% of germs placed inside of it.

The Calligraphy can also be upgraded from the 303bhp drivetrain, to a 421bhp dual-motor drivetrain for a £1,800 premium, raising the price to £77,595. In doing so, however, this slashes the 0-62mph time from 6.7 seconds to 5.2 seconds. On the Calligraphy model, Hyundai will replace the Ioniq 9’s middle bench with individually-swivelling captain’s chairs. This configuration, however, reduces practicality to six seats instead of seven and bumps up the price to £78,595.

Irrespective of model, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 comes with a 110kWh battery and 800V electrical architecture allowing it to charge up to 233kW. This charging speed means it can be charged from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes. Moreover, vehicle-to-grid comes standard.

While more expensive than other seven-seaters such as the sub-£49k Peugeot E-5008 and sub-£60k Volkswagen ID.Buzz LWB, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 undercuts the seven-seat, all-electric Volvo EX90 by £18,000 along with similar-spec premium five-seat SUVs like the BMW iX and Polestar 3 with OTR prices starting from £75,405 and £69,910 respectively. Hyundai has yet to make any announcements regarding the official range of the Ioniq 9.
