Skywell Skyhome to Deliver Massive Media to the Backseats in 2025
With the electric car market heating up significantly, many manufacturers are looking for new ways to become attractive brands while the market is still relatively young.
One such brand is Skywell. Its upcoming Skyhome will come with the luxuries of a first-class airport lounge, they say. Most intriguingly, the sedan-style car features a hefty screen for the backseat passengers and headrest screens. Expected to arrive in the UK in 2025, are these extras desirable?
Meeting the Increasing Demand for Backseat Entertainment
In a world of smartphones and tablets being go-to sources for entertainment, it makes sense that modern vehicle manufacturers would try to integrate screens into the backseat experience. Drivers welcome their passengers keeping themselves busy, be it with a game, film, or show. It’s not just car manufacturers, either. Delta will be offering ways to get fast internet connections and YouTube streams on their flights for SkyMiles Members in 2025, and they’ll be working out exclusive deals with other online entertainment brands.
In cars, having screens set in the back of the front seats or their headrests is extremely niche. Many people just turn to the makeshift options that are around, like headrest mounts for tablets and smartphones. Even these simple additions make for a more comfortable and enjoyable backseat experience and make the go-to forms of online entertainment almost as accessible as if you were in your living room.
So, perhaps the more important thing would be to integrate a steady internet connection. Channelling a connection strong enough for 4K Netflix streams seems a bit out there, but less demanding online entertainment options could still be viable. This would include lower-definition film streams and online casino slots. While there are hundreds of slots to play, from Bigger Bass Splash to 9 Rhino Fast Fires, they’re not particularly demanding of data. Building a casino app into an integrated media centre, provided that it has a good enough internet hookup, could allow for the manufacturers to advertise there being hundreds of entertainment options.
Building Libraries for the New Big Screens
The natural next step is to integrate bigger screens into more vehicles. This is where the Skyhome screen swings into play. In the publicity images, the screen within the spacious sedan spans from around the middle points of the headrest screens up to the top of the vehicle. As it stands, it looks even bigger than the 31.1’’ screen of the BMW 7 Series.
Similarly to the process with Delta, Skyhome could work out exclusive deals with digital entertainment providers. If they were to go down a similar route and team up with a gambling brand, Monopoly slots could be an option. In these games, the developers have leant heavily on the iconic brand, even integrating special features like rolling the dice to move around a Monopoly board to win prizes. So, there’s big-name recognition and popular gaming options, possibly making the brand a good choice.
The partnership could even extend further from Monopoly slots to the digital board game itself, presenting the complete official Monopoly experience as a big selling point. It’s this kind of branded collection that would help to sell the appeal of a massive media screen for the backseats.
Larger screens, and even very large screens, look to be the future of backseat entertainment in electric vehicles. Throw in some big brand partnerships, and they could be an even bigger selling point for Skywell when it launches the Skyhome in the UK this year.
