Mercedes Benz E-Class 2025: Brings Comfort and Style at a Hefty Price Tag
If good looks, charm and comfort are your thing when it comes to choosing a new vehicle, the Mercedes E-Class will undoubtedly be, ahem, at the top of the class in 2025.
That is, of course, if you can stomach the dealer price, which on the best of days will likely be in the region of £55,000 for a brand-new model.
But is this update of the German outfit’s best-in-show plug-in hybrid saloon worth the outlay?
Hole In One
The latest edition of the E-Class was first shown off, unexpectedly, at The Masters golf tournament back in March 2024.
Mercedes have a long-standing sponsorship agreement with the Augusta-based event, which dates back the best part of two decades. The Masters is considered the flagship tournament on the golf circuit, with betting favourites Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm just two of those to slip into the famous Green Jacket.
Those having a bet on The Masters in 2025 may just side once again with Rory McIlroy, who just needs to win the event to complete the career grand slam of majors. Who knows, maybe the Irishman will splash out on a new E-Class to join his already extensive car collection, which reportedly includes a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and a Lamborghini Aventador.

The good news for McIlroy is that both the E-Class saloon and estate have ample space for a set of golf clubs in the boot, with plenty of oomph to get around courtesy of the hybrid-powered engine; remember, if you want a purely electric Mercedes model, you’ll need to opt for the EQE instead… a similarly aesthetically-pleasing, but pricey, alternative.
If it’s speed from a standing start and performance that you favour, there are better options than the E-Class – the BMW i5 or even the Tesla Model 3 win out in that department. But if it’s comfort that you crave, there are few smoother rides on the market today.
On a Cloud
Originally, the E-Class was released without Mercedes’ outstanding air suspension model – why, only they can tell you.
However, newer editions of the vehicle do now come with that top spec air suspension system, which will leave you feeling like you’re sitting atop a cloud – even at high speeds and on bumpy country lanes.
The new dashboard comes loaded with technical innovation; not least a screen for your front seat passenger, who can now stream and sing along to their heart’s content.
There’s a dash-mounted camera – for selfies, not to aid your driving, while the temperature and air vents are all operated via the touchscreen console.

Some have compared the E-Class unfavourably to the BMW 5 Series or the Audi A6 in terms of pure driving performance, with the Mercedes offering frustrating some users with its perceived gearbox laziness; this is not the most agile or sporty of electric vehicles.
To that end, with its comfortable interior, suite of infotainment options and that hybrid engine, the E-Class is the ideal option for those with deep pockets who regularly embark on longer distance journeys.
But if you want to zip around locally, or open up on B roads and country lanes, there may just be more cost-effective alternatives.
