Zapmap launches new payment card to simplify charging

EV mapping and payment service Zapmap has launched a new charging card to help make public charging easier for the UK’s electric car drivers.

The Zapmap charging card covers a variety of public charge point operators, allowing users to pay for all their charging sessions via a single card rather than having to manage multiple accounts, subscriptions and apps.

The new physical card works alongside the existing payment system in the Zapmap mobile app, allowing drivers to simply tap and pay at compatible charging devices. The service currently covers more than 40,000 public charge points over 30 different networks around the country.

“We’re here to help drivers charge with confidence – and the new charging card makes that even easier,” said Melanie Shufflebotham, COO and Co-founder of Zapmap. “Whether you’re using your phone or tapping your card, paying with Zapmap fits around your journey.”

The new card is initially available to Zapmap Premium annual subscribers for a small fee, and will be rolled out to all Zapmap users later in the summer. Drivers simply link their credit or debit card details to their Zapmapp app account and order a physical card.

The launch follows a year of significant growth in Zapmap’s payment network, more than doubling the number of charge points where drivers can pay through the app.
