Vauxhall Corsa GSe Gran Turismo is an 789bhp hot hatch concept

Vauxhall has unveiled a Corsa GSE concept that will accelerate from 0-62mph in 2 seconds and hit nearly 200mph.

The Vauxhall Corse GSE Vision Gran Turismo will make its public debut at the 2025 Munich Motor Show but ahead of that, Vauxhall has revealed some pretty impressive details.

Intended to showcase the future of the GSE sub-brand, the new Corsa GSE packs two motors offering a combined 789bhp and 590lb ft of torque. Putting its power down through an all-wheel-drive setup, the hyper hatch will go from 0-62mph in 2 seconds and hit a top speed of 199mph. An 82kWh battery makes sure the 1,170kg concept can manage that run multiple times.

As well as appearing at Munich, the Corsa GSE Gran Turismo will make its digital debut in Gran Turismo 7 so players can take a virtual spin at the wheel.

Unfortunately, that’s as close to driving it as any member of the public will get. Unlike the Mokka GSE, the Corsa GSE Gran Turismo won’t make it to production. But it does suggest that Vauxhall could be planning a road-going version of the Corsa GSE that would act as a twin to the recently revealed Peugeot E-208 GTI.

The Corsa GSE Gran Turismo features a race-inspired interior

Like the Peugeot, that would most likely use the proven underpinnings of the Mokka GSE, Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce. That combines a 276bhp front-mounted motor and 54kWh battery with a specially tuned chassis and mechanical limited-slip differential to offer some of the most engaging EVs currently on sale.

Steve Catlin, managing director of Vauxhall commented: “The Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo takes the GSE sub-brand to the next level. It not only shows what is possible on a small car platform, it also displays a clear view to the future.

“Taking the iconic Corsa nameplate and combining it with GSE high-performance engineering results in a breathtaking concept that will deliver OMG! GSE moments.”

As well as big power, the Corsa GSE Gran Turismo features some big styling. Apart from the Vauxhall ‘Vizor’ at the front, there’s not a lot in common with the regular Corsa Electric. Despite having a similar footprint, the GSE features a massively wide body kit with an aggressive front splitter, boxy flared wheel arches and a prominent roof spoiler.

The Corsa GSE concept features active aero and a wild body kit

That spoiler is part of an active aero pack designed to keep the GSE glued to the road. The rear spoiler and diffuser extend at high speed to aid stability and the spoiler rises up to act as an air brake. Elsewhere the massive front skirts and flared arches help aid air flow while the heritage-inspired 21-inch three-spoke alloys are designed to reduce turbulence in the wheel wells.

The interior is heavily influenced by a motorsport vision, with a full roll cage and suspended lightweight driver’s seat with six-point harness. A single head-up display provides driving data while onboard sensors send other information to the driver via illuminated fabric on the doors and dash. First seen on the 2023 Experimental Concept, this “painting with light” could warn of other vehicles moving into the driver’s blind spot or an obstruction ahead.

The Corsa GSE concept is among a host of EV reveals scheduled for this year’s Munich Motor Show. You can read our full breakdown of what to expect here.
