All-Electric Renault 5 EV officially comes to the UK

The Renault 5 has officially arrived in the UK, with a first shipment of over 200 of the critically acclaimed EV landing in Portbury Docks from Renault’s dedicated EV factory in Douai, France.

The first all-electric Renault 5 to turn a wheel on British soil was a flagship ‘iconic’ model finished in Pop Yellow! with a contrasting black roof.

The first batch of UK-bound Renault 5 will be delivered across the carmaker’s country-wide dealer network to help them meet the demand for test drives for the French manufacturer’s revived icon. Renault will make the first deliveries of the 5 in spring this year.

Even before touching down on UK soil, the Renault 5 won a host of awards including Car of the Year 2025 from the European Car of the Year jury, the What Car? Car of the Year award, and the accolade for Top Gear Car of the Year.

Renault offers the 5 in three trim levels: the entry-level evolution, mid-tier techno, and the range-topping iconic. Depending on specification, either a 40kWh or 52kWh battery is available. The smaller unit produces 118bhp and has a rapid DC charging rate of 80kW, while the larger of the two makes 150bhp and a DC charge rate of 100kW.

In terms of pricing, the Renault 5 has an OTR starting price of £22,995 if making an outright purchase. Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) offers for orders placed before the end of March 2025 see a Renault 5 Evolution with a 40kWh battery available for £249 per-month over 48 months on a 5.5% APR representative PCP deal, including a £555 deposit contribution.

Alternatively, a 0% APR representative PCP offer across the range means customers can be driving a Renault 5 with a 40kWh for £182 per- month over a 24-month period with a minimum 30% deposit.

The Renault 5’s sister car, the all-electric Alpine A290, also made its UK debut earlier this week. The performance-focused EV hot hatch made its first official UK appearance at the F1 75 Live launch event, where it was driven by Alpine F1 driver, Pierre Gasly.
