Source signs up to Octopus Electroverse to simplify charger access

Charge point operator Source has partnered with Octopus Electroverse as it seeks to introduce 300 new ultra-rapid charging hubs across the UK and Ireland by 2030.

By pairing with Europe’s largest EV public charging payment platform, Source aims to simplify finding and paying for sessions on its network. Its chargers, including its first ultra-rapid hub in Edinburgh, will now appear on the Electroverse charging map and drivers will be able to activate a charging session directly through the app or via an Ocotpus Electroverse charging card.

Source EV public charge points are backed by TotalEnergies and operate 24/7. They are priced from 49p per kilowatt hour for fast charging, and 69p/kWh for ultra-fast charging. Along with the Octopus app, drivers can also use Source’s own SourceConnect app to locate chargers, start sessions and monitor charging in real-time. Added functionality including the ability to book a charging bay in advance are also set to be rolled out at a later date.

Regarding the tie-up with Octopus Electroverse, Alice Aprile-Smith, the head of partnerships and business development at Source commented: “This partnership is one of many we are working on signing to make it easy for drivers, fleet operators and taxis to use our superb charging hubs. We know that customers want a stress-free and simple charging experience and partnering with roaming providers such as Octopus Electroverse ensures customers have choice about how to charge.”

Octopus Electroverse director, Matt Davies, added: “With every new charge point we add, we’re making sure the ever-growing number of EV drivers on UK roads always have a charger close by. At Electroverse, we’re proud to be building Europe’s largest consumer EV charging platform and to partner with charge point operators like Source, who share our passion for making charging simple and effortless for everyone.”

Public charging is still seen as one of the biggest concerns amongst UK motorists looking to make the switch from petrol or diesel to all-electric. However, more than 70% those who have made the transition no longer see it as an issue and use public charging sessions as an excuse to relax or finish tasks such as shopping or catching up on work.
