Robert Llewellyn recharges Scrapheap Challenge for an electrified future

Former Scrapheap Challenge host Robert Llewellyn is reviving the hit engineering gameshow for the electric age with a new project entitled Zapheap.

The Fully Charged owner and presenter plans to use his globally successful platform to launch a pilot episode of the new show, which he will once again present.

Like the original Channel 4 show, Zapheap will pit two teams of amateur engineers against each other in a race against time to turn scrap into a something spectacular. The two teams will be led by experts Richard Morgan of Electric Classic Cars and Anne Kloppenborg of New Electric, in their efforts to turn junkyard scrapped into electric-powered vehicles and items.

Each project the competing teams create will aim to showcase what is possible when the EV and sustainable engineering worlds are allowed to operate without constraints. Each project must be completed within 10 hours, and be built with safety and innovation at its core.

Zapheap aims to begin filming in July 2025 and is a Kickstarter-backed project. Since it began in March this year, it has attracted 293 backers, and has raised $26,379 with 21 days of fundraising remaining.

In a breakdown on the Kickstarter website, Zapheap explains how the funding will cover costs for the pilot episode, a live show, crew, production, safety, and post-production. Further information – as well as a video fronted by Robert Llewellyn – is available at this link.

Earlier in 2025, The Fully Charged Show co-founder, Dan Caesar, appeared on the EV Powered Everything EV podcast. During his apperance, Caesar set out to bust the numerous myths that surround EV ownership, as well as his thoughts on the UK’s upcoming ZEV mandate and the country’s electrified automotive future.
