Rivian celebrates first production version of R1T electric truck
American-based electric truck company Rivian has confirmed that its very first customer vehicle has rolled off the assembly line.
Specifications and details of how long production of the model took have not been confirmed by the manufacturer, but news of the Rivian R1T was first shared back in November 2018.
The company had previously delayed the launch several times but now, the very first customer-ready vehicle was completed out of the firms site in Normal, Illinois.
The news was officially confirmed on Twitter by Rivian boss RJ Scaringe: “After months of building pre-production vehicles, this morning our first customer vehicle drove off our production line in Normal! Our team’s collective efforts have made this moment possible. Can’t wait to get these into the hands of our customers!”

Whilst details remain few and far between, Rivian has received EPA range ratings which confirm the R1T will have a range of 314 miles, with an updated version set for release in January 2022 to have a range of more than 400 miles.
The battery type for the vehicle is undisclosed but other figures highlight DC fast charging which will see 140 miles of range recouped in 20 minutes and a 0-60mph speed of 3.0 seconds.
