Cupra Raval to arrive in 2026 with hot 223bhp VZ variant and £25k price tag

The Cupra Raval has appeared for the first time at this year’s Munich motor show, and is expected to be priced from around £25,000 when it goes on sale next year.

Built on the same electric-only MEB Entry platform as its sister cars – the newly-unveiled Skoda Epiq, the Volkswagen ID Polo, and the VW ID Cross – the Raval will serve as Cupra’s entry-level model, and rival the likes of the Renault 5 and the Mini Cooper Electric. The Cupra, along with the VWs and the Skoda, will be built in Spain.

The Barcelona-based carmaker has yet to confirm full technical specs of the Raval, but it measures up at just over four metres long and 1.78m wide. Compared with the VWs and the Skoda, the Cupra Raval will ride 1.5cm lower and come with its own bespoke steering system.

Upon arrival, the Cupra Raval is expected be offered with the same 38kWh and 56kWh battery packs as the ID Polo, with the latter returning a 273-mile range from a single charge.

While the Raval debuted in Munich wearing a camouflage wrap inspired by the street pattern of the Raval district in Barcelona, the all-electric supermini takes several design cues from the UrbanRebel concept. These visuals include a sharp front end, triangular headlights, and snowflake wheels.

Moreover, Cupra promises that the Raval will maintain the brand’s signature copper-coloured trim elements.

A flagship Cupra Raval VZ will join the fold, and will match the upcoming ID Polo GTI for performance courtesy of a 223bhp motor. This means that it will manage the 0-62mph sprint in 6.9 seconds. The hot Raval will also benefit from a sportier suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, 19-inch wheels and disengagable stability control.

Interrim Cupra CEO, Markus Haupt, said that the Raval is “now shaping our future” and will be “as always, driver focused.”
