Updated Porsche Taycan gets 105kW battery packing 421-mile range
Porsche has updated its Taycan EV to make its 105kWh battery standard across the range, returning a range of up to 421 miles.
The entry-level Porsche Taycan and mid-tier Taycan 4S are the main beneficiaries of Porsche’s latest changes. The 105kW ‘Performance Battery Plus’ replaces the two cars’ previous 89kWh unit. In doing so, the Taycan’s range is increased by approximately 50 miles to 421 miles.
The base Taycan and the 4S now also benefit from £8,000 worth of extras at no extra cost including adaptive cruise control and lane change assist.
The entry-level Porsche Taycan now starts at £88,200, and comes with 19-inch Taycan S Aero wheels. Both cars can also be specced with the option of a leather-free cabin with two choices of upholstery: Stuttgart’s retro-inspired ‘Pepita’ (houndstooth) seen on 911s and 928s of the 1970s and ’80s, or grippy, Alcantara-esque ‘Race Tex’.
Moreover, Porsche has been generous with standard equipment at the higher end of the Taycan range. Porsche’s £8,500 rear-axle steering and ‘Power Steering Plus’ pack are now standard kit on the Taycan GTS and Turbo.
The Cross Turismo estate hasn’t been excluded from Zuffenhausen’s latest flourish of generosity, and now comes with the £3,600 Offroad Design Package thrown into its £89,200 starting price. This includes an extra 10mm worth of ground clearance, flaps integrated into the front lower valance, sideskirts, and a rear diffuser.
The Taycan and Macan Electric are the only full EVs currently in Porsche’s line-up. However, an all-electric e-718 and Boxster are set to join the fold by early 2026. A Volvo EX90-rivalling electric Cayenne is also in the works.
While Porsche has backtracked on its decision to go fully electric, the brand has hybridised its most famous nameplate – the 911 – courtesy of the T-Hybrid model. The Panamera has also benefited from electrification thanks to its E-Hybrid models.
