Nissan partnership with Pod slashes cost of home charger installation
Nissan has partnered with Pod to reduce the upfront installation cost of a Pod Point Solo 3S home charger from £99 to £49.
Buyers opting for any of the Japanese brand’s three all-electric models will be able to take advantage of the offer by signing up for Pod’s innovative new Pod Drive subscription service, which offers up to £170 per year cash back on charging costs.
The deal is open to new customers choosing the all-new Micra or third-generation Leaf, both of which will arrive in the UK early in 2026, as well as existing owners of electrified Nissan models such as the Ariya.
Pod Drive is a three-year subscription, which costs £40 per month and enables customers to earn the equivalent of 7,500 driving miles (the annual mileage for a typical driver) in cash rewards whenever they smart charge.
After each smart charge session is worked out, rewards are earned in the form of miles, which are then converted at 2.3p per mile into cash and can be withdrawn from the user’s bank account.
On the back of the announcement, Nissan GB managing director, James Taylor said: “At Nissan, we know a reliable, convenient, cost-effective home charging solution makes a huge positive difference to the EV ownership experience.
“Pod Drive delivers exactly that, and now – just like our brand-new 100% electric models, the all-new Nissan Leaf and Micra – it’s even more affordable. We’re delighted to partner with Pod to make the switch to more sustainable motoring simpler and cheaper for our customers.”
Debbie Foley, Pod’s chief revenue officer added: “Nissan has been spearheading the EV transition from the very beginning and it’s clear they show no signs of stopping.
“As a pioneer just like Pod, they saw the huge potential of EVs over 15 years ago and together we have ushered in the mass-market adoption of electric driving.
“Both our teams have been relentlessly innovating from the get-go and we now mark an exciting collaboration to offer their EV customers a new way to charge at home that gives them total peace of mind.”
As part of the deal, Pod offers a 48-hour repair or replace service following the Pod Point Solo 3S’ installation, plus 24/7 customer support. By 2027, Nissan promises to introduce an additional four all-electric models, and hinted to EV Powered that a hot Nismo model could be a possibility if it meets customer demand.
