NIO launches new ‘smart electric mid-large’ ES7 SUV
NIO has showcased its new electric SUV, the ES7, as well as the 2022 ES8, ES6, and EC6 all-electric models.
The NIO ES7 will feature a 75kWh battery, which can be upgraded to a 100kWh battery, with prices starting from just under £58,000. A ‘Premier’ edition will also be available, with pre-orders open now with deliveries expected later this year.
According to NIO, the ES7 will have a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds, with an expected range of 385 miles on the upgraded 100kWh version. The ES7 will also be able to reach a range of 577 miles with the 150 kWh Ultralong Range Battery.
The new EV is also one of the first certified passenger vehicles in China to be able to tow a caravan or a trailer. The optional electric tow bar has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg. In addition, ES7 can supply power to towed equipment. In outdoor scenarios, it can support the Camping Mode and V2L discharging.
In terms of its design, the NIO ES7 is the manufacturer’s first electric vehicle to demonstrate its “Design for AD” ethos. The front fascia’s Shark Nose and Diamond cut plan view celebrate the pure X Bar design. NIO furthered its distinct SUV design language with prominent wheel arches, increasing the ES7’s road presence. The double-dash DRL showcased in the front of ES7 is met by the “Air Wing” taillight that adds visual width.
NIO’s Digital System for Evolving Smart Technology also made its debut as part of the premiere. It includes smart hardware, computing platform, operating system, smart algorithms, and smart applications. Named after a family of trees, NIO Digital System embodies continuous development into a cohesive eco-system with sustainability in mind.
Banyan is the smart operating system on the NT2 platform. NIO Aquila Super Sensing and NIO Adam Super Computing represent the smart hardware and the computing platform. In addition, NIO ES7 comes with the latest NIO Autonomous Driving (NAD). It will gradually achieve a safe, reassuring, point-to-point autonomous driving experience in scenarios such as highways, urban areas, parking, and battery swapping.
