New 2026 Dacia Spring goes on sale priced from just £12,240
Dacia’s updated Spring has gone on sale, priced from just £12,240 thanks to a new in-house grant.
Already the UK’s cheapest electric car, the heavily revised Spring gets an even more attractive price thanks to Dacia’s own £3,750 Electric Car Grant.
With the grant applied the Spring is now the UK’s cheapest new car regardless of powertrain. Even without the grant, it is among the most affordable new models on the market.
The 2026 Dacia Spring brings power and chassis upgrades as well as improved specification as part of Dacia’s ambition to roll out annual improvements to its budget EV.
Two new motors bring more power to the entry-level and higher-grade versions. The base Expression 70 now gets a 69bhp motor – exceeding the previous higher-powered version. The higher-spec Extreme 100 comes with a 99bhp motor, giving it a new advantage over the rival Leapmotor T03.
Dacia says both motors bring significantly improved acceleration, although given the previous model’s sloth-like performance, that wouldn’t be hard.
Also sped up for 2026 is the Spring’s charging, courtesy of a new 40kW charger which can top up the 24.3kWh battery from 20-80% in 29 minutes.
Under the skin, the 2026 Spring benefits from revised springs and shock absorbers, stronger brakes and the inclusion of anti-roll bars for the first time to offer a more stable and secure driving experience.
There are just two trim levels, priced from £15,990 before the grant – a £995 increase over the outgoing model. However, the Dacia grant slashes that to £12,240 for the Expression 70 model. That comes with the less powerful motor and features air conditioning, cruise control, electric front windows, rear parking sensors and a digital instrument display. It also gets a broader suite of driver assistance, including traffic sign recognition and lane keep assist.
For an extra £1,000, the Spring Extreme Electric 100 gains the more powerful 99bhp motor and gets copper-accented styling, electric rear windows, a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reversing camera, front parking sensors and vehicle-to-load capability.
Orders are open now, with first customer deliveries expected, fittingly, in spring 2026.
