Polestar 2 updated with ‘Dune’ colour and ‘Prime’ pack

Polestar has updated its Polestar 2 for the 2026 model year with several changes including a new ‘Dune’ colour option, and a ‘Prime’ option pack.

First introduced towards the end of 2020, the Polestar 2 was the Swedish brand’s first ground-up EV following its separation from Volvo. Since the, the ‘P2’ has undergone a series of incremental changes to keep it at the sharp end of the all-electric D-segment along with the BMW i4, Tesla Model 3, and Mercedes EQE.

Dune replaces the outgoing ‘Jupiter’ colour option and is a deeper, sandy hue. The Prime pack combines the Pilot, Plus, and Climate packs and adds tinted rear windows and a tinted fastback. Further exterior additions include the choice of 20-inch aluminium wheels, the lighest Polestar has built to-date.

On the inside, the updated Polestar 2 gets Charcoal upholstery with optional Black Ash trim. A Polestar-only 1,350 kilowatt Bowers & Wilkins comprising 14 speakers is an optional extra. As standard, a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor chip enables faster speeds for in-car app downloads, plus quicker responses on the infotainment screen.

Regarding technical updates, the Polestar 2 retains the 70kWh battery from the previous model year. However, the latest car benefits from the manufacturer’s Plug & Charge technology introduced with the Polestar 3 SUV. This sees cars authenticate the charger at a public charge point using the Polestar app and within the car’s setting.

Since the start of 2025, Polestar has made significant headlines. In the United States, the Geely-owned carmaker was giving discounts of up $5,000 off of its Polestar 3 to Tesla owners who had grown tired of Elon Musk’s political posturing. In its native Sweden, it launched three rugged ‘Arctic Circle‘ editions of its 2, 3, and 4 to compete in the F.A.T. ice race.

Closer to home, March this year saw Polestar expand its UK charging network to over 6,000 units after pairing with providers such as Ionity and Instavolt.
