MG Cyberster price and specification confirmed as orders open
Orders have opened for the MG Cyberster, with the electric sports car priced from £54,995.
The Cyberster is the brand’s first electric roadster and is being offered with a choice of two powertrains.
The Cyberster Trophy is priced from £54,995 and offers 335bhp from its single rear-mounted motor. That is enough to get the drop-top two-seater from standstill to 62mph in just five seconds.
Above that is the Cyberster GT – MG’s most powerful model ever and among the fastest accelerating EVs in the world. Two motors deliver all-wheel drive and 496bhp, allowing the Cyberster GT to reach 62mph in just 3.2 seconds. The GT costs from £59,995.
Both versions of the Cyberster use a 77kWh battery with 150kW DC charging. MG says that’s good enough for 316 miles of range in the single-motor version and up to 276 in the dual-motor GT. They are also both equipped with Brembo brakes to keep all that power in check.
David Allison, MG’s head of product and planning, commented: “The Cyberster is a car designed to excite, whether through its head-turning design or its scintillating performance.
“Both the Trophy and GT are compelling two-seat EV sporting roadsters which promise to propel grand touring into the electric age.”
Both versions of the Cyberster feature automatically opening scissor doors and a powered folding soft top that can be operated at up to 30mph. Trophy models come with 19-inch alloys shod in Pirelli P Zero tyres, while GTs step up to 20-inch designs.
Inside the two-seat cabin, driver and passenger get six-way electrically adjustable heated seats, and a heated steering wheel and dual-zone air conditioning are standard. There’s a three-screen cockpit with a 10-25-inch instrument panel flanked by two seven-inch screens, plus a fourth central touchscreen for climate controls.
Standard equipment includes an eight-speaker Bose stereo, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 360-degree parking camera. A suite of driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control, lane change assist and intelligent headlight control.
Orders for the MG Cyberster are open at selected MG dealers, with first customer deliveries due in August.
