Lotus is rolling out a new over-the-air software update to Eletre and Emeya owners across Europe, bringing a dynamic performance soundtrack, one-tap driver settings and a raft of safety improvements to its electric flagships.
The free-flowing stream of updates is now table stakes in the premium EV world, and this latest package keeps the Eletre SUV and Emeya grand tourer on the front foot against rivals such as the BMW iX and Porsche Taycan. Lotus says the changes were shaped directly by customer feedback and ongoing development work.
Headlining the update is Active Sound Design, which pipes amplified, performance-inspired sounds into the cabin. Rather than a static hum, the soundtrack responds dynamically to acceleration, braking, driver inputs and the selected drive mode, aiming for a more immersive experience behind the wheel.
Also new is Drive Setup, a convenience feature Lotus says was a direct response to owner requests. It lets drivers save their frequently used vehicle and driver-assistance preferences, then activate the lot with a single tap rather than digging through menus.
In the safety front, both cars gain improved insulation-fault monitoring, which can detect potential issues sooner, warn the driver earlier and trigger automatic system protection.
The Eletre, which recently gained a plug-in hybrid X sibling priced ahead of its 2027 UK debut, also gets retuned fatigue and distraction alerts designed to cut false warnings without softening the safety net.
The Emeya, meanwhile, now displays its Auto Hold status when the system is active, making it easier to confirm what the car is doing in stop-start traffic. It is a small tweak, but a welcome one for a machine better known as the world’s fastest-charging car and holder of an EV lap record at Sepang.
Hyper Pilot takes to the autobahn
The most significant addition, though, is reserved for Germany, where Eletre owners gain access to the much-anticipated Lotus Hyper Pilot.
The assisted-driving system is currently designed for approved motorway routes along the Frankfurt-Stuttgart-Munich corridor, covering sections of the A3, A5, A8 and A99 autobahns. It combines lane centring, adaptive speed control and supervised overtaking assistance to ease the workload on long motorway hauls, though the driver remains responsible for the car at all times.
The rollout follows Lotus becoming only the second manufacturer globally, and the first British one, to secure UN R171 certification in March, the regulatory green light that allows the Eletre’s autonomous driving technology to be used by everyday drivers. There is no word yet on when, or whether, the feature will reach UK roads.
German customers can also enjoy complimentary use of the HNP Premium Package during a 12-month window that closes on 29 July 2027. The feature requires the Highway Assist Pack, the LIDAR Sensor Suite, active connectivity via the Connectivity Prestige package or an external Wi-Fi network, and active route guidance through the built-in navigation.

Owners will receive a notification when their car is ready to download and install the update.
