Kia EV5 price and specifications revealed ahead of launch

The new Kia EV5 SUV will cost from £39,295 when it goes on sale later this year.

Acting as an all-electric equivalent to its best-selling Sportage, the EV5 is priced to compete directly with the Skoda Enyaq, Ford Explorer, Renault Scenic and others in the packed family SUV segment.

The EV5 will follow Kia’s familiar EV specification pattern with the entry-level Air sitting beneath GT-Line and GT-Line S trims.

All launch versions of the EV5 will come with the same 81.4kWh battery as the EV3 and EV4, and a single front-mounted 214bhp motor. That’s good for a 0-62mph time of 8.4 seconds and, more importantly, up to 329 miles of range. DC fast charging of 127kW allows a 10-80% top-up in 30 minutes.

An all-wheel-drive version expected to pack more than 300bhp and an even more powerful GT performance model are set to join the line-up in 2026.

Like other Kia EVs, the EV5 comes in three trim levels

All versions of the EV5 feature full LED lights; a three-screen infotainment and instrument array; heated front seats and steering wheel; wireless Apple and Android mirroring; automatic air conditioning; front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera. A driver assistance suite featuring the latest adaptive cruise control and lane follow systems along with forward collision avoidance is also standard.

GT-Line specification costs from £42,595 and adds sportier styling touches including gloss black trim, adaptive LED headlights, powered tailgate, heated rear seats and 19-inch alloy wheels in place of the Air’s 18s. It also introduces vehicle-to-load capability and electrically adjustable front seats.

The range-topping GT-Line S is priced from £47,095 and upgrades the front seat to ‘premium relaxation’ units with built-in cooling. It also includes a sunroof, head-up drivers’ display, eight-speaker Harman Kadron stereo, side parking sensors and remote parking, plus a 360-degree camera. As with other Kia EVs, a heat pump is an optional extra only offered on the GT-Line S.

Four levels of entertainment subscriptions will be offered in the EV5

All versions of the EV5 come with a 12.3-inch main touchscreen offering new entertainment options. Monthly entertainment packages costing between £7 and £18 per month will unlock everything from music streaming and YouTube to Netflix and in-car karaoke.

Measuring 4.61m by 1.87m, the EV5 is marginally bigger than the Sportage and Ford Explorer and slightly smaller than the Enyaq. A 566-litre boot is supplemented by a 44-litre “frunk” and 16.5 litres of storage space in the mutli-level centre console.
