KGM offers first test drives in new Musso EV

The KGM Musso EV will make its UK debut this weekend at the SupBikeRun triathlon in Cumbria.

The all-electric pick-up will be on show at the “adventure triathlon”, with attendees able to take an early test drive in what the Korean brand describes as an “evolving” model.

The Musso EV was first teased in 2024 and is based on the same platform as the Torres EVX SUV rather than the diesel-powered Musso pick-up truck. KGM says it is using the early test drives to gather driver feedback to help refine the offering before a full UK launch.

While specifications are still to be finalised, the Musso EV at this weekend’s event features all-wheel-drive capability, up to 290 miles of range and pick-up friendly functions such as vehicle-to-load for powering tools and other equipment from the truck’s drive battery.

KGM describes the Musso EV as a ‘evolving’ model

Kevin Griffin, managing director at KGM Motors UK, said: “SupBikeRun is all about adventure and new experiences, which makes it a fitting environment for participants to test drive the Musso EV for the very first time. At this stage, it is about seeing what’s possible for an electric pick-up and engaging with people who will ultimately shape its future.”

All-electric pick-ups have so far had a difficult time in Europe. While the United States has several larger models such as the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T, it has proved difficult to meet the demands of Europe’s one-tonne truck market, with models such as the Maxus T90EV failing to deliver on several fronts.

Given the difficulties in matching the load, towing and off-road abilities of diesel trucks, it is thought the Musso EV could target a more lifestyle-focused customer base rather than buyers looking for a full-on workhorse like the current diesel Musso.

Anyone who wants to take a test drive in the Musso EV can register their interest via the KGM website here.
