Fuse Energy and Easee launch UK’s cheapest EV home charging tariff at 5p per kWh
Renewable energy supplier Fuse Energy, and EV charger maker Easee have partnered to introduce home charging rates for as little as 5p per-kilowatt hour, the cheapest currently available in the UK.
By offering a 5p/kWh rate that charges an EV during off-peak hours when the grid is at its cleanest, drivers can add up to 100 miles of range for just £1.25. It is worth noting that off-peak hours are generally within a seven-hour window from between 23:00 to 8:00, but can vary depending on energy supplier and tariff.
Until the introduction of Fuse Energy’s 5p charging rate, the cheapest EV home charging tariff was 6.7p/kWh off-peak with courtesy of E.ON Next Drive.
The Easee/Fuse Energy deal is available with the purchase of an Easee One wallbox, offering charging speeds of up to 7.4kW and available in five colours. The Easee One is the Norwegian brand’s most affordable offering with a starting price of £899 and a standard installation time of under seven days. In 2024, the Easee One was named the best home charger at the Auto Trader New Car Awards.
All Easee wallboxes can be integrated with dynamic time-of-use energy tariffs and come with in-built Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity. These features allow the charger to optimise charging times with when electricity is cheapest and cleanest, thus cutting charging costs and emissions.
“We’re proud to support Fuse Energy’s new tariff with our award-winning charger,” said Anthony Fernandez, the CEO of Easee UK. “With over 870,000 Easee chargers already installed across Europe in residential and fleet applications, this partnership extends our commitment to making EV charging smart, seamless and scalable.
“Together, we’re empowering more drivers to access lower-cost charging whilst contributing to grid stability.”
The off-peak charging hours involved with thes 5p/kWh charging rate do not just allow for cheaper charging, they reduce strain on the national grid and shift demand to periods of high renewable energy availability.
Alan Chang, Fuse Energy CEO added: “Our mission at Fuse is to make clean energy cheaper and smarter for everyone.
“This partnership with Easee is a perfect match, combining the UK’s lowest smart charging EV rate with one of the most trusted and future-proof chargers on the market. It’s a huge step towards a more intelligent and affordable electric future.”
