EV ‘Godfather’ Andy Palmer joins Fellten as part of brand’s international roll-out

Dr. Andy Palmer has joined Fellten as a non-executive chairman as the UK-based startup seeks to introduce its Charge Qube battery systems to various international markets.

The Fellten Charge Qube launched early in 2025, and uses repurposed second-life batteries housed in standardised, stackable, shipping containers to provide AC and DC EV charging with speeds ranging from 150kWh to 450kWh. Moreover, the Charger Qube requires no planning permission for its installation.

Palmer earned his ‘Godfather of EVs’ title for his role in launching the Nissan Leaf in 2010 while operating as the Japanese carmaker’s chief operating officer. He also oversaw the development and launch of the Aston Martin DBX while acting as the brand’s CEO; a role he held from 2014 – 2020.

Regarding his appointment, Palmer commented: “The key for me is the fact that Fellten’s Charge Qube uses second-life batteries to build these systems, this is essential in the urgent race to decarbonise and move to a renewable energy powered society.

“This is an exciting moment in the company’s journey to be joining and I look forward to assisting with its growth. The fact Chris Hazell – Fellten CEO – and the team have decided to follow a standardised format is a spark of genius. Keep it simple and growth will follow when the product is right.”

Hazell added: “It is a real win for Fellten to have Andy join as non-exec chairman. He is a well-known and respected industry leader and battery expert, and already sits on the boards of several excellent battery companies. We believe Andy’s expertise will help take the Charge Qube product line to the next level.”

Fellten is an industry leader in EV conversion technology, OEM automotive and marine high-voltage battery packs, engineering and manufacturing, energy storage solutions, and sustainable mobility innovation.
