Alpine to celebrate 70th birthday at 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Alpine will mark its 70th anniversary at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed by showcasing a line-up of cars including the all-electric Alpine A290 Rallye and the incoming A390 EV .

The Alpine A290 Rallye is a special stage-ready version of the A290 hot hatch, and packs a a full roll cage and several enhancements including a ZF limited slip differential, a hydraulic handbrake, plus upgraded suspension, brakes and running gear.

Like its road-going sibling, the Alpine A290 GTS, the A290 Rallye has a front-mounted 217bhp motor, returning 221lb ft of torque. Moreover, the ABS system has been replaced with a race-specific control, and the car comes with a rally-themed external sound generator. The standard, non-rally version of the A290 will also be on display.

The French performance brand’s second EV on display will be the A390. The A390 is Alpine’s answer to the likes of the Porsche Macan Electric, and orders will open in November this year with initial deliveries expected in early 2026 with prices expected to start around £60,000.

Under the skin, the A390 is built on Renault’s award-winning AmpR platform, and comes with a clever tri-motor system offering over 460bhp. Renault claims that despite being an SUV, the A390 is a “race car in a suit”.

Alpine’s showcase isn’t just relegated to EVs. Its hydrogen-powered, 740bhp Alpenglow HY6 prototype will take to Goodwood’s legendary hillclimb throughout the event, and the internal combustion-engined A110 R Ultime will also run.

With 345bhp and a 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds, this ultimate version of the A110 is said to be 20 seconds quicker than the A110 R around the Nordschleife. It will also be a final hurrah for Alpine’s sports car, before it is replaced by an all-electric version in 2026 after a decade on sale.

Regarding the celebrations, Alpine UK managing director, Nic Burnside said: “With motorsport in Alpine’s DNA, we are going the extra mile to bring an amazing and headline-grabbing line-up of cars to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year. In the UK, Goodwood will be the highlight of our 70th anniversary celebrations, and we are determined to put on a memorable show for all the fans visiting this iconic venue.”

Alpine’s line-up will run in the First Glance, New Classics, and Supercar demonstration sessions at FoS 2025. Moreover, a demo car from the Alpine F1 team will be taking to the hillclimb each day of the event. The 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed begins on Thursday July 10, and concludes on Sunday July 13. The theme of this year’s FoS is 75 years of Formula 1.
