Cassidy seals Round 15 victory in London on farewell weekend for Jaguar and Barclay

Nick Cassidy delivered a dramatic and emotional win at the 2025 Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix, clinching victory in Round 15 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship on his final race weekend with Jaguar TCS Racing.

The New Zealander rose from fifth on the grid to take the chequered flag ahead of Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries and Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein, capping off a defining weekend for both Cassidy and the outgoing Jaguar Team Principal James Barclay.

The result marked Cassidy’s second consecutive victory, following Jaguar’s win-double in Berlin, making it a rare hat-trick of team wins—only the fifth time a team has achieved that in Formula E history. The win also ensured that Barclay, who spearheaded Jaguar’s return to motorsport, signed off with silverware on his final weekend in charge.

Wehrlein, the outgoing world champion, took third and bagged fastest lap honours, a crucial boost to Porsche’s title challenge in both the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Championships, where they now lead Nissan by 39 points, with just 47 left in play.

Race recap: tactical brilliance from Cassidy

Polesitter Mitch Evans led the field away from the line with de Vries holding off Wehrlein into the opening chicane. Early contact between Edo Mortara and Maximilian Guenther on the exit beneath the Docklands Light Railway left the DS PENSKE of Guenther nursing suspension damage, bringing out the Safety Car on Lap 2.

After the restart on Lap 4, Evans continued to lead from de Vries, Wehrlein, and Cassidy, who was already on the move from his fifth-place start.

The race’s strategic pivot came at the PIT BOOST window around Lap 17, with Cassidy timing his stop and ATTACK MODE activation to perfection. The Jaguar driver emerged from the pit phase in net P1 by Lap 20, before de Vries and Wehrlein attempted the overcut with late stops on Lap 25.

The strategy worked—briefly—as de Vries rejoined ahead of Cassidy. But the Jaguar driver made a decisive move out of the final turn on Lap 27, using his second ATTACK MODE to retake the lead at the start of Lap 28.

Behind them, Dan Ticktum triggered chaos when he clipped Evans into a spin, dropping the polesitter out of the points. Ticktum’s afternoon ended shortly after with a crash at Turn 9, bringing out the Safety Car again.

A final restart on Lap 35 set the stage for a sprint to the finish. Cassidy led cleanly, fending off de Vries and Wehrlein, while Stoffel Vandoorne came home fourth for Maserati MSG Racing. Jake Dennis took fifth and Jean-Eric Vergne rounded out the top six.

The victory lifted Cassidy to third in the Drivers’ standings, with only one round remaining. Oliver Rowland, who could only manage 11th in London, retains the lead, with Wehrlein close behind in second.

Cassidy’s swansong win was the ideal send-off after a standout season with Jaguar, and one that added a fitting final chapter to James Barclay’s tenure as Team Principal.

“To win in London, on James’s final weekend, and in my last drive for Jaguar—it means everything,” said Cassidy. “We were aggressive with the strategy and the team delivered. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together.”

Formula E now heads to the final round with title battles still alive, both on and off the track.
