Rally fans and farmers rejoice: Subaru E-Outback wagon arrives in Europe
The all-electric Subaru E-Outback has made its European debut at the Brussels Motor Show ahead of its UK arrival mid-way through 2026.
In April 2025, the E-Outback was unveiled at the New York International Motor Show where it was badged the Trailseeker. Subaru changed its name to ‘E-Outback’ to appeal to European buyers.
Unlike its all-electric siblings, the Solterra and the Unchartered, which are manufactured by Toyota, the E-Outback and the upcoming Toyota bZ4X Touring will be built fully in-house by Subaru.
Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system means that the E-Outback retains Subaru’s legendary off-road abilities, and it comes with several drive modes including snow/deep snow, mud/deep mud, and a hill descent control system.
True to the Japanese brand’s rough ‘n ready nature, the Subaru E-Outback gets a towing capacity of 1,588kg and 210mm of ground clearance.
Subaru has yet to publish any official UK numbers, but using the bZ4X Touring as a reference point, it is expected that the Subaru will come with a 74.7kWh battery returning a range of 303 miles. The battery can be charged from 10-80% in 25 minutes, with a maximum fast-charging speed of 150kW.
Fans of sleeper wagons will be pleased to know that the E-Outback’s twin-motor powertrain will produce an Impreza WRX STI-beating 375bhp and a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds. It is unknown whether Subaru will offer a watered-down down 221bhp, front-wheel drive version of the E-Outback as Toyota has done with the bZ4X Touring.
Question marks still surround the Subaru E-Outback’s pricing, with an announcement expected imminently. Its Toyota relation starts at £39,995 for FWD version, while the full-blooded, AWD – also with 375bhp – comes with a £51,545 price tag. Upon arrival, the E-Outback will be the second all-electric car in the Japanese car’s UK line-up.
As part of its electrification strategy, Subaru announced at the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show that it will add a fully electric version of its iconic Impreza WRX STI to its range in the coming years. The Unchartered will also be sold in the UK.
