Leapmotor B03X is a boxy Renault 4 rival coming in 2026
Leapmotor has confirmed that its B03X compact SUV will be coming to the UK next year and hinted at a 250-mile+ range and mid-£20,000s price.
Revealed at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China, the new crossover will be called the A10 in its domestic market but sold as the B03X in the UK and Europe, where it is set to challenge the Renault 4, BYD Atto 2 and Ford Puma Gen-E.
Positioned as a “smart premium long-range SUV”, Leapmotor claims the B03X will “break the industry’s three dilemmas” which dictate that premium must be expensive, small cars must be low-tech and a compact footprint means limited space.
At 4.2m long, the B03X is marginally longer than an R4, but with a similar 2.6m wheelbase, which should provide space for four. It has a similar boxy design to the Renault or BYD, with a “smile motif” light signature. There are no images of the interior but expect it to be a similarly stripped-back, screen-focused affair as the larger B10, which has just gone on sale in the UK.
Technical details are being kept under wraps but Leapmotor claims the B03X will deliver class-leading range. Its LFP battery apparently returns up to 311 miles on the lenient Chinese CLTC test. Expect somewhere in the region of 225-250 miles under the tougher WLTP test.
Although not confirmed, it is believed the smaller Leapmotor could borrow the same 215bhp motor as the B10 since it is based on the same architecture.
Leapmotor says the B03X is aimed at customers looking for an “affordable but premium” commuting car as well as those switching from an ICE compact model. It says the model will offer an AI-powered cockpit, advanced driver assistance, 18-inch alloy wheels, semi-hidden door handles and a “floating roof” design with panoramic sunroof.
Hinting at pricing, Leapmotor said that the B03X will sit beneath the B10, which currently starts at £29,995. We’d expect a starting price of around £25,000 in order to compete with established rivals when it goes on sale in the second half of 2026.
