Believ delivers ultra-rapid charging hub boost to Aberdeen
EV chargepoint operator Believ has created a new ultra-rapid charging hub in Aberdeen to serve the city’s growing EV market.
The new hub, situated on the main A96 route between Aberdeen and Inverness, features four 240kW dual-socket chargers, capable of serving up to four vehicles at a time.
Believ estimates that, depending on the vehicle and charger demand, its new hub will allow drivers to top up from 0-80% in under 20 minutes.
The site is also located next to an existing coffee shop, providing refreshment facilities for drivers while they charge.
The Scottish Motor Trade Association has reported that battery EV sales surged by 57% in 2025 compared to 2024, and that BEVs now account for 13.5% of all new car sales in Scotland.
Guy Bartlett, Believ CEO, says his firm’s new high-speed charging hub is designed to serve Scotland’s growing number of EV drivers with charging infrastructure where it’s needed most.
He commented: “It is fantastic to see Scotland embracing EVs and we are delighted to be supporting the local community and regular users of this major route with convenient, reliable and accessible charging infrastructure.
“The hub is helping to ensure the transition away from petrol and diesel cars is as easy as possible, in support of our mission to ensure access to sustainable transport and deliver cleaner air for all.”
Next year Aberdeen’s charging infrastructure will expand further with the installation of the UK’s first indoor charging hub.
In October Fastned secured planning permission for its innovative covered charging hub in a disused warehouse on the city’s Virginia Street.
The fully covered site will include 12 drive-through chargers offering up to 400kW – enough to add 100 miles of range in five minutes. It will also feature a shop, toilets and seating area.
Solar panels will be installed on the roof to provide renewable energy to help power the site, which is the first in a planned series of hubs build on disused urban industrial sites.
