XPENG G6 to arrive in the UK in 2026 with class-leading charging speeds and new AWD Performance Black Edition

XPENG has confirmed that its upgraded G6 electric SUV will arrive in the UK in the first quarter of 2026, with prices starting from £39,990.

The refreshed model introduces significant updates to performance, battery technology, interior design and driving refinement, as the Chinese brand continues its European expansion following its UK launch earlier this year.

A major addition for British buyers is the new AWD Performance Black Edition, which brings dual-motor capability to the G6 range for the first time. Producing 358kW and 660Nm of torque, the range-topper sprints from 0–62mph in 4.1 seconds, positioning it among the quickest EVs in its price bracket. The AWD system and revised chassis tuning promise improved traction, stability and cornering composure on UK roads.

Visually, the Black Edition adopts a stealth-inspired aesthetic, with 20-inch black alloys, smoked exterior detailing and black brake callipers. Inside, XPENG adds suede-textured grey upholstery to underline the performance focus.

Fastest charging in its class

The new G6 uses XPENG’s next-generation 80.8kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery, built with a cobalt-free, nickel-free and manganese-free chemistry for improved sustainability and durability. Paired with the brand’s 800V SiC high-voltage platform, the G6 now supports peak charging power of 451kW, allowing a 10–80% recharge in just 12 minutes – potentially the fastest charging time currently available in the UK mid-size SUV segment.

XPENG says the battery also benefits from a 30% increase in lifespan compared with the outgoing model.

A high-efficiency heat pump is now standard across the range, helping preserve performance and range during colder British winters.

20,000 refinements for UK roads

XPENG claims the updated G6 incorporates over 20,000 incremental engineering improvements, including refinements to suspension, steering, powertrain response, battery management and cabin NVH. The result, the company says, is a quieter, more stable and more comfortable car engineered specifically with European road conditions in mind.

Braking smoothness has also been enhanced for both urban driving and longer motorway journeys.

Sharper design and improved aerodynamics

Styling changes include a new 1.94-metre Starlight LED light bar with integrated indicators, body-coloured wheel arches, a redesigned rear diffuser and an enlarged rear spoiler. The car maintains its sleek 0.248 Cd drag coefficient, with new colour choices such as Stellar Purple joining the line-up.

Interior upgrades and smarter tech

Inside, the G6 receives a series of material and usability upgrades: new wood-grain trim, a suede-effect roof lining, updated door lighting, enlarged wireless charging pads (now 50W × 2), and a redesigned inner rear-view digital mirror for Long Range and AWD models.

The front seats now feature heating, cooling and massage, while the rear seats continue to recline in 12 steps. Boot space remains generous at 571 litres, expanding to 1,374 litres with the seats folded.

XPENG’s latest XOS cockpit system delivers faster responses, smoother UI transitions and a more intelligent voice assistant capable of offering context-based suggestions across four cabin zones.

Enhanced safety and XPILOT driver assistance

The G6 debuts XPENG’s ultra-robust battery safety structure, with a 4-3-4 architecture and armour capable of withstanding 1,000°C heat and 80-ton side pressure. The company claims a 30% improvement in overall battery durability.

The XPILOT ASSIST suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane-centring, advanced auto-parking, remote parking, a 360-degree camera system and seven airbags with forward, rear and side collision-avoidance capabilities.

The new G6 range will launch as follows:

  • RWD Standard Range: £39,990 OTR
  • RWD Long Range: £44,990 OTR
