Volkswagen ID.3 GTX ‘Fire & Ice’ stars in deeply German 1980’s-inspired music video
The special edition VW ID.3 GTX ‘Fire & Ice’ has taken centre stage in a new 1980s-inspired music video by Purple Disco Machine.
A limited edition piece, the ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice is based on the Mk2 Golf Fire & Ice, which was inspired by the very German, very cult ‘Fire and Ice’ ski-themed action movie of 1986.
The ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice’s deep violet paint job is carried over from the original 1990 car and comes with a period Fire & Ice logo on the roof spoiler as a nod to its predecessor.
Further changes over the regular ID.3 GTX include a geometric F+I pattery on the C-pillar, striking 20-inch, two-tone purple and silver Locarno alloy wheels, and roof strips in red anodised paint.

Puddle lights in the door mirrors represent fire on the passenger side with a flame logo, and ice on the driver’s side with a juxtaposing snowflake. At the back, VW’s latest LED tail lights have been tinted exclusively for this model.
Inside, the Fire + Ice theme continues. The passenger headrest is blue, while the driver’s is orange. Both seats are finished in the style of a Bogner padded ski jacket – after all, Willy Bogner both bankrolled ‘Fire & Ice’ and is the founder of German luxury ski-brand, Bogner.
The the steering wheel, instrument panel, door trims, and mats are finished with blue and orange stitching and logos.

To celebrate its arrival, the VW ID.3 GTX and Golf Mk2 Fire & Ice have both starred in the music video for a re-imagined version of the film’s title track named Fire + Ice.
The track is produced by by Dresden-born DJ, Tino Piontek or ‘Purple Disco Machine’ and sung by former Scissor Sisters frontman, Jake Shears.
