Skoda Epiq on a quest to rival Renault 4
Skoda has fully revealed its cheapest EV for the first time with the unveiling of the Epiq crossover at the Munich motor show.
The Czech brand says the Skoda Epiq displayed at IAA Mobility is a “show car” but it is understood to be very close to the finished model which will enter production in 2026 to compete with the likes of the Renault 4, Hyundai Inster and Citroen E-C3 Aircross.
Skoda confirmed that the Epiq’s price will be comparable with its petrol-powered Kamiq sibling “in many markets”. If that includes the UK, the Epiq will cost from around £25,000, undercutting the Renault and other key competitors.
The Skoda Epiq promises up to 264 miles of range on a single charge. Skoda hasn’t confirmed battery sizes but it is widely believed it, along with other MEB-Small models, will use 38kWh or 58kWh batteries and a 208bhp motor.

At 4.1 metres long, the Epiq is by some way Skoda’s smallest EV but the brand says it still offers space for five passengers and up to 475 litres of boot capacity – more than the larger Elroq.
It is the first model to fully adopt the Modern Solid design language already featured in parts on the Elroq and Enyaq. That translates to a simple angular exterior with clean lines defining its crossover look. The glossy Tech Deck front end features a full-width light bar while the main headlights are set lower in the bumper. Front and rear feature rugged-looking “skidplates” to enhance the SUV look.
We haven’t seen the interior of the Epiq yet but Skoda says it will be a minimalist and functional space with a focus on practicality and usability. Skoda’s usual smart storage and luggage solutions will be present, including hidden underfloor compartments, and there will be a mixture of physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels for key functions.
The Skoda Epiq will be built in Spain as part of the Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car Family (EUCF). This “family” shares platform and technology and also includes the Volkswagen ID Cross, ID Polo and Cupra Raval, all also showcased at this year’s Munich show.

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto, said: “The Epiq show car offers a concrete glimpse into the next addition to Skoda’s successful all-electric family. It embodies the essence of Skoda: modern solid design, a spacious interior within a compact footprint, user-friendly, intuitive digital interfaces, and Simply Clever details that ensure a seamless experience – and above all – at an attractive price point. With the Epiq, we’re taking another step towards making electric cars a practical and compelling choice for everyday drivers.”
