Peugeot unveils updated E-308 and E-308 SW with 281-mile range
Peugeot has revealed its new E-308 promising improved range and a bold new look to bring it in line with the larger E-3008 and E-5008.
The refreshed rival to the Volkswagen ID.3 and Vauxhall Astra will go on sale this autumn bringing a revised exterior design, improved aerodynamics and a more efficient powertrain.
Most noticeably, the new E-308 is the first Peugeot to feature an illuminated front badge. The light-up Peugeot shield sits in a redesigned front end with LED ‘strands’ radiating out from it towards new slimline headlights. Like most mid-life facelifts, the E-308 update also brings a new bumper designed to improve air flow and help efficiency.
Elsewhere, Peugeot has ditched chrome trim completely for what it calls a more modern look, and there are new diamond-cut alloy wheel designs. The hatch can now be ordered with an exclusive Lagoa Blue finish while the estate now comes with the option of the Ingaro Blue already used on other models.
Less obvious is the wider use of recycled materials inside and out. Peugeot says that 31% of the new car’s construction is from recycled materials including steel, aluminium and plastics.
Under the skin, the E-308 uses the same 154bhp motor as before but gets a marginal battery upgrade. The new 55.4kWh pack along with efficiency improvements throughout the car mean the E-308 will now travel 23 miles further on a charge. In its most efficient guise that means the E-308 now manages 281 miles on a single charge, still some way short of the VW ID.3, which manages up to 350 miles.
Charging remains capped at 100kW, meaning a 20-80% charge takes 32 minutes. However, new for the 2025 model are a heat pump – standard on GT Premium grade and optional on others – three-phase 11kW charging and vehicle-to-load capability that means owners can run appliances off the car’s drive battery. The E-308 now also features plug-and-charge capability to simplify the charging process.
Prices and full specifications are expected to be announced shortly but Peugeot has confirmed that the E-308 and E-308 SW will come in three trim levels – Allure GT and GT Premium. All versions get 18-inch alloys and seats approved by the AGR – Germany’s campaign for back health. A 10-inch infotainment system with upgraded graphics and wireless smartphone mirroring is also standard in an otherwise unchanged interior.
