No more flaky charging: Greggs Bicester gets ultra-rapid InstaVolt hub

InstaVolt has rolled into Greggs just off the A4421 in Bicester, and opened a new hub with eight ultra-rapid chargers offering charging speeds of up to 160kW.

Located on the busy Oxford-to-Aylesbury corridor, the Greggs Bicester InstaVolt site gets two wider bays for improved access and larger vehicles, and is located close to the Bicester Village outlet centre. This latest addition grows the InstaVolt ultra-rapid network to over 2,000 chargers across 750 sites nationwide.

“Bicester is perfectly positioned on the busy Oxford-to-Aylesbury route, making it an ideal location for drivers who need reliable, fast charging,” said InstaVolt CEO, Delvin Lane. “With eight 160kW bays and a Greggs on-site, drivers can grab a coffee, or a bite to eat while they charge and be back on the road before they know it. It’s exactly the kind of convenient destination that makes EV ownership effortless.”

To help UK motorists make the switch from internal combustion-engined vehicles to EVs, InstaVolt opened its ‘landmark’ superhub earlier this year in Winchester with a total of 44 160kW chargers baked into the site. The superhub also offers drive-through bays for larger vehicles and towing set-ups, extra-long van bays, plus dedicated accessible charging spaces

From late May until August 31, InstaVolt introduced a ‘Summer Special’ tariff with charging costs dropping from the standard rate of 0.87p per kilowatt hour to 50p/kWh during off-peak hours from 21:00 – 07:00 across selected hubs.

Every InstaVolt site is powered 100% by renewable energy and open 24/7. To make EV charging as hassle free as possible, no subscription is required to access the InstaVolt network, which supports various payment methods including Apple Pay, Google Pay, charge cards, and American Express.

By 2030, InstaVolt aims to have rolled out 11,000 ultra-rapid chargers across the UK and Ireland. In continental Europe where it already operates hubs in Iceland, Spain, and Portugal, it aims to expand its network by over 5,000 sites.
