The new Renault Megane has gone on sale in the UK, bringing a new longer-range battery, better charging and improved specification.
The Megane also arrives with a significant price cut after the updated model was approved for the full Band 1 Electric Car Grant.
The approval means buyers now get an automatic £3,750 discount on the list price of a new Megane, with the range now starting at £28,245 for the entry-level techno trim, with the higher-grade esprit Alpine priced from £31,245.
The Megane’s Band 1 approval means that every Renault EV is now eligible for the full ECG.
As previewed by EV Powered, the new Renault Megane brings updated styling on top of a revised technical spec.

All models use a 217bhp front-mounted motor and a new 67kWh LFP battery which brings a range boost of 21 miles, giving the new Megane an official range of 306 miles. The new battery also brings faster charging with peak DC boosted to 165kW, allowing a 15-80% charge in 24 minutes – 25% faster than before.
Visually, the updated family hatchback gets a sharper front end inspired by the Scenic, flush-fit door handles, a new rear skirt and a 3D effect on the full-width light bar.
On sale from October 1, the Megane comes in two trim levels – techno and esprit Alpine. All models get a 12.3-inch digital driver display, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, hands-free parking, heated front seats and steering wheel, a heat pump, battery pre-conditioning and five levels of regenerative braking including One Pedal driving.

Techno models feature 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, and get a 12-inch Google-powered touchscreen with Apple and Android mirroring, 360-degree parking camera, and driver recognition system as standard.
The esprit Alpine trim level adds 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, front electric seats with massage for the driver, a Harman Kardon stereo and active driver assist.
