New DS No4 EV priced from £36,995 with VW ID.3 in its sights

The all-electric DS No4 will be priced from £36,995 when it goes on sale in October this year.

This latest generation of DS’s answer to the likes of the Volkswagen ID.3 marks the first time the C-segment family car has been powered by the French carmaker’s fully-electric E-Tense drivetrain.

Regardless of trim level, the updated DS No4 comes with a front-mounted 58.3kWh battery producing 213bhp and 253lb ft of torque. Range for the EV-only car is a WLTP-estimated 278 miles.

For £36,995, the entry-level DS No4 Pallas EV comes with dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. The mid-tier Pallas+ adds keyless entry and a heat pump for improved efficiency in winter, and increases the price to £39,160.

The flagship Etoile trim is priced from £41,860 and benefits from a plush Alcantara dashboard, and a 360-degree parking camera.

The DS No4 EV shares its powertrain with the similarly-sized Peugeot e-408 and the recently-updated Citroen e-C4, meaning it can be rapid charged at rates of up to 120kW, adding 60% worth of range (20% – 80%) in around 30 minutes.

As well as the electric drivetrain, the DS No4 gets an updated front end with the new lights, nose-wide lightbar, grille, and bonnet inspired by the brand’s quirky DS No8 flagship.

The DS No4 has been the brand’s best-seller in the UK after it launched in 2021, with 2,300 cars sold. However, the Stellantis-owned premium brand has struggled in Europe with sales down by 22.4% last year with a total of 10,405 cars sold.

Despite the sales dip, it has been reported that DS will be introducing a DS No7 to its line-up. This mid-sized SUV is expected to wear the same distinctive styling as the DS No4 and No8, and will available with an all-electric drivetrain powered by either a 73kWh or a 98kWh battery.

Like its sister cars, the Vauxhall Grandland and the Citroen C5 Aircross SUVs, the DS No7 will be built on the mid-sized, STLA-M architecture.
