Instavolt completes installation of Corley battery storage system
Instavolt has finished installing its first battery storage system design to support its ultra-rapid charging network.
The pilot scheme has seen two large battery units installed at Welcome Break Corley Services on the M6. The units store electricity on site and distribute it directly to InstaVolt’s chargers.
The operator says this reduces reliance on large grid connections, helps maintain consistent charging speeds during periods of high demand and provides greater resilience across the site.
As part of the installation process, InstaVolt also upgraded its existing charging devices. The northbound side now features eight ultra-rapid chargers and a fully accessible bay, with the southbound featuring seven ultra-rapid chargers, all offering up to 160kW of charging power.
The Corley installation is the first step in a wider rollout of battery systems installations across the firm’s network.
