Gary Lan appointed Omoda & Jaecoo UK CEO

Gary Lan has been appointed Omoda & Jaecoo’s UK chief executive officer as the twin brands plan a rapid expansion.

Lan’s appointment marks a crucial milestone for the brand as it coincides with Jaecoo’s official UK debut, and the start of Jaecoo 7 customer deliveries at the end of January 2025. This closely follows Omoda’s launch in September 2024.

Lan will be responsible for steering the company’s cross-country operations, overseeing the expansion of the Omoda and Jaecoo brands, and strengthening their presence in one of its key markets.

Commenting on his appointment, Lan said: “Omoda & Jaecoo enjoyed a successful debut into the UK in 2024, and has already started 2025 strongly with the launch of the Jaecoo 7, which has been positively received by the media and its first customers.

“My aim is to build on that success by continuing to roll out products from our new vehicle ranges, supporting our growing dealer network, and engaging with customers in both the fleet and retail sectors.”

Lan has an extensive background in the automotive industry. Prior to joining Omoda & Jaecoo, he held senior leadership roles at Lincoln Motors in China, where he served as vice president of sales and vice president of product marketing and brand management.

His career also includes director-level positions at Ford in China, as well as key roles at Jiangling Motor Company in China and Mazda in Taiwan, where he played a crucial role in market strategy, brand development, and sales performance.

Lan will work closely with Victor Zhang, who continues in his role as Omoda & Jaecoo UK country director.

Omoda & Jaecoo is owned by Chinese automotive giant, Chery. Since arriving in the UK, the company has met its ZEV sales mandate target, and already embarked on an ambitious expansion programme.

Alongside the Jaecoo 7, the brand aims to introduce the Omoda 9, the Jaecoo 5, the Omoda 7 and the Omoda 3 in 2025. It also plans to open 59 new UK dealerships, bringing it to a total of 130 across the country by the end of the year.
