Ford Power Promise offers free Ohme chargers to EV customers across Ireland
Ford has partnered with Ohme to provide Irish customers with a free home charger.
Dubbed the ‘Ford Power Promise’, the tie-up between the home wallbox provider and the Blue Oval came after Ford surveyed 5,000 motorists across Europe and found one in eight motorists found it difficult to arrange charging at home.
The Ford Power Promise aims to make home charging easier by covering the costs of the charger and its installation, providing dealer training sessions related to EV charging and maintenance, and Monday-to-Thursday customer support between 9am and 6pm.
With an Ohme wallbox and a dedicated off-peak EV charging tariff, Ford Power Promise customers in Northern Ireland can charge their vehicle from 1am to 8am with one of Ohme’s 7.4kW chargers for 17.51p per kWh. This means that the Ford Puma Gen-E with its 43kWh battery and 259-mile range can be charged from 0-100% for £7.53.
In the Republic of Ireland, customers enjoy the same free wallbox promotion and even lower running costs. Charging at home during the Energia EV Smart Drive off-peak rate (2am–6am) a customer can charge a new Puma Gen-E for just €5.
The collaboration is of particular significance to both parties, given Ohme is based in Cork. From 1917 to 1984, Ford had a presence in Ireland’s second-largest city thanks to its Cork plant, which built cars and tractors for the European market.
Lisa Brankin, the managing director for Ford Britain and Ireland, said: “Switching into an electric vehicle for the first time can be a daunting prospect for some drivers, so Ford has decided to simplify and de-stress the entire ownership experience by launching a one-of-a-kind promise to new electric vehicle buyers.
“This commitment from Ford, and partnership with Ohme, aims to support our Power Promise and entice new buyers into the exciting world of electric vehicles and stimulate additional demand for our freshest-ever lineup of electric passenger cars and commercial vehicles.”
David Watson, Ohme CEO added: “With Ford’s long-standing strong relationship across all of Ireland, this is a collaboration that’s close to home both personally and professionally.
With the new Puma Gen-E as well as the Capri, Mustang Mach E and Explorer, plus its electrified commercial vehicle range, Ford has one of the strongest EV line-ups on the market, which can now be charged with the best EV home charger on the market.”
The Ford Power Promise is available on passenger vehicle retail and fleet orders until April 30, 2026. Meanwhile, the offer for commercial vehicles ends on March 31, 2026.
