Fellten unveils all-in-one charging system in a shipping container

EV specialist Fellten has launched a new all-in-one charging system designed to speed up the UK’s electric transition by removing the need for planning permission.

The innovative Fellten Charge Qube is an all-in-one, energy storage and charging system housed in a 10-foot shipping container. The device can either be integrated into existing energy networks, or operate as a stand-alone power source, all without requiring the lengthy planning process that often holds up charger installations.

The Charge Qube is intended for use by fleet operators, public charging stations, construction sites, and remote/temporary power needs. Fellten says that it can be operational within two hours of delivery without any major infrastructure upgrades and features roof-mounted solar panels and a wind turbine generator to supplement the main energy supply.

The unit also uses second-life battery packs, and extends their lifespan by up to 25 years.

The Charge Qube provides scalable energy storage from 150kWh to 450kWh per-unit and supports both AC and DC fast charging. A larger 20-foot container option with up to a 900kWh capacity will join the existing 10-foot version in the second quarter of this year.

Fellten offers the Charge Qube in three variants: an energy storage-only unit provides off-grid power solutions; a Type 2 AC charging version is aimed at fleet users and capable of charging up to 12 EVs simultaneously at a rate of 7kW per-port.

A third option features dual 240kW ultra-rapid chargers suitable for high-speed public and commercial EV charging. Daisy chaining options are available for additional capacity.

In addition to its rapid deployability and sustainability credentials, the Charge Qube features advanced battery management systems, fire suppression technology, and remote cloud-based monitoring.

“With its robust, adaptable design, Charge Qube is the definitive solution for businesses looking to future-proof their energy infrastructure, reduce emissions, and embrace the benefits of sustainable energy storage and high-performance EV charging,” said Fellten CEO Chris Hazell.

“It addresses the urgent need for flexible, sustainable energy solutions that can be rapidly deployed anywhere.

“By leveraging second-life EV battery packs and modular containerised design, we are delivering a cost-effective, scalable product that supports businesses and public infrastructure with reliable energy and fast EV charging.”

The Charge Qube is manufactured by Fellten in Bristol, and is available via direct purchase, leasing, or rental. Fellten is an industry leader in EV conversion tech, OEM battery pack development, sustainability, and energy storage solutions.
