Hived buzzing to add 11 Mercedes eHGVs to all-electric delivery fleet
Delivery company Hived has ordered nine Mercedes eActros 600 and two Mercedes eActros 400 eHGVs to operate across its UK-wide middle mile network.
Hived is the UK’s only logistics firm to operate an all-electric fleet across the middle and final mile stage of its delivery process. The average middle mile distance – routes between retailer warehouses and end customers – is around 200 to 400 miles. Thanks to a 600kWh battery, the eActros 600 returns a range of at least 301 miles from a single charge.
Over the course of the next year, Hived plans to install its own network of megawatt chargers at its hubs in West London, the Midlands and Manchester. These facilities will charge the eActros 600 from 20 to 80% in just 30 minutes.
“This is a major moment for the logistics industry,” said Hived co-founder and chief product officer, Mathias Krieger. “In an industry where the status quo is to run a mixed fleet at best, Hived is the first delivery company to operate an all-electric delivery network across the middle and final delivery mile. With the eActros, we continue to redefine what a modern delivery company looks like with our expanded electric middle mile capacity.”
James Venables, Daimler Truck UK’s future sustainability head, added: “Hived’s commitment to end-to-end, all electric delivery service is a great example of how switching to electric trucks can improve the sustainability of any company, particularly in the delivery sector. This progressive, future-focussed company is the ideal partner for us and the eActros.”
In January 2025, Amazon made the biggest order in Mercedes Trucks history after ordering over 200 eActros 600s for its all-electric fleet. When delivered later in the year, over 140 of the vehicles will join Amazon’s UK network. Following its 2023 debut, the eActros has won several awards including ‘International Truck of the Year 2025’.
