Be.EV invests £2.5 million into four new London ultra-rapid charging hubs
Be.EV has announced that it will build four new ultra-rapid charging hubs in London by the end of the year as part of a £2.5m investment into improving the capital’s public charging network.
The charge point operator will build four sites comprising a total of 30 new ultra-fast 150kW charging bays, which are said to deliver 80% worth of charge in 20 minutes.
The first Be.EV ultra-rapid hub will be built at the Crown Hotel London in Cricklewood, North London. Additional sites include Croydon and Dartford in the south east of the capital, and Watford in the north west.
The Be.EV ultra-rapid charging hubs are aimed to address the issue of public charging in London, despite the fact that it is the best spot in the country for public charging with over 26,304 public charge points. This is almost triple the amount in the South East, which was nominated second best. By 2030, London aims to be a zero carbon city.
Be.EV CEO, Asif Ghafoor said that the installtion of the new sites as a way of “future proofing” the capital’s public EV charging network.
“London is crying out for reliable, accessible EV charging – and this expansion is about meeting that demand head-on.

“We’re helping to future-proof the city by putting chargers where people need them most: close to homes, shops and leisure destinations.”
AG Hotels CEO and managing director, Girish Grover added: “Onsite EV charging is becoming a clear differentiator in the hospitality sector, shifting from a nice-to-have to an essential service.
“Partnering with Be.EV will allow us to meet the expectations of a growing number of travellers with EVs while also attracting new customers from the local community.
“It’s a strategic step that strengthens our sustainability agenda and ensures our hotels remain competitive as travel behaviours evolve.”
Currently, there are 86,163 public EV chargers across the UK, 17,132 of which are rapid or ultra-rapid devices spread across 6,554 locations nationwide.
Be.EV’s charging network currently includes more than 750 live charging bays, and is planned to reach 1,600 by the end of 2025.
