638bhp Smart #6 flagship scheduled for arrival in late 2025

The Tesla Model 3-rivalling Smart #6 is set to arrive later this year, according to new reports.

The Geely-owned brand’s first four-door sedan will be its largest, and most aerodynamically-efficient car to date, with an understood range of around 436 miles.

The Smart #6 is understood to be twinned with the Zeekr 007, which is set to be unveiled later in 2025 and scheduled for arrival in the UK at the start of 2026. Both cars will be built on Geely’s EV-only PMA2+ Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), which also underpins the Polestar 4 SUV coupé.

PMA2+ is compatible with 400V and 800V electric architectures, allowing for charging at up to 400kW. The platform can also be fitted with a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive powertrain, or a dual-motor four-wheel-drive alternative.

In terms of batteries, it is believed the Smart #6 will offer a 75kWh LFP unit for 400V RWD cars or a 100kWh NMC pack for 800V RWD and 4WD models.

Reports suggest that the RWD Smart #6 will return around 335bhp, while the AWD version will produce 597bhp. A flagship Brabus version capable of the 0-62mph run in under 3.5 seconds and 638bhp is also rumoured to be in the pipeline. If and when it comes to production, the #6 will be the quickest Smart ever produced.

The #6 will be penned by a team at Mercedes-Benz headed by Smart’s design chief Kai Sieber. While its design is secret for now, it is said that the Smart #6 will reflect the aesthetics of the #1, #3, and #5 with a raked roofline and similar surfaces. Like these models, the Smart #6 will also feature frameless doors.

It is rumoured that Smart #6 will also be made available as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) when it goes on sale. Smart recently said that it was open to a variety of powertrains in future models, but ruled out bringing a PHEV version of the Smart #5 to Europe.
