2026 Renault Twingo interior revealed along with sub-€20k price

Renault has revealed the first interior images of its new Twingo E-Tech electric city car, which is due to go on sale next year, priced from under €20,000 (£16,600).

Revealed at the Brussels Motor Show, the prototype’s modular interior is said to give a clear indication of how the final car will look and feel.

The French manufacturer says that the new car’s cabin will follow the practicality-first approach of the original Twingo and revive ‘iconic’ features from that first model in a spacious and functional layout.

These include the hazard light switch housed prominently in a translucent ‘bubble’ on the dashboard, alongside three simple buttons to operate the air conditioning.

That dashboard is a suspended cylinder which floats above an old-school parcel shelf for stowing items such as sunglasses or wallets. Less old-school are the two digital screens – a seven-inch instrument cluster and 10.1-inch media and navigation display – that will feature bespoke Twingo graphics and host Renault’s latest connected systems.

Also acknowledging the needs of 21st century occupants are magnetic phone mounts in the back of the front headrests, plus a host of other storage areas in the seatbacks and between the front seats.

The 2026 Renault Twingo’s interior materials are intended to evoke memories of the original car in the seat upholstery, and experiment with new sustainable approaches. These include using durable tinted cork for the floor.

Just like the original, the new Twingo’s two-seat rear bench slides forwards and back and features 50/50 split folding to offer flexibility in its small 3.75m footprint. Adding to the flexibility is the fac that the new Twingo E-Tech is a five-door hatch rather than a three-door.

Also unlike the original car, which boasted a sliding ragtop sunroof, the 2026 Renault Twingo appears to feature a panoramic glass roof, although it’s not clear if that will make production and, if so, if it will be a standard feature.

2026 Renault Twingo interior detail

We would guess not as Renault also confirmed at the Brussels show that it was targeting a sub €20,000 starting price for the new Twingo E-Tech, which is set to share its underpinnings with a new Nissan Micra.

Technical details are still to be confirmed but we do know the Twingo E-Tech is based on the same architecture as the larger Renault 5, so we’d expect it to get the smaller battery and motor combination used in that car.
