Porsche confirms Antonio Félix da Costa departure after three Formula E seasons
The Porsche Formula E team has confirmed the departure of Antonio Félix da Costa, bringing to an end one of the driver market’s longest-running sagas.
The Portuguese driver, who joined from DS Techeetah in 2022, exits after three seasons with the German manufacturer. His departure had been the subject of speculation for months, with much of the Formula E grid waiting on his decision before finalising line-ups for Season 12 (2025/26).
Da Costa is now widely expected to join Jaguar Racing alongside Mitch Evans, replacing Nick Cassidy who has moved to, new team on the grid, Citroën.
Da Costa’s tenure at Porsche brought highs and lows. His standout moments included a stunning last-lap victory in Cape Town and a late-season run of four wins in five races during Season 10. However, he also faced setbacks, notably a controversial disqualification in Misano after a celebrated victory.
Despite helping Porsche secure the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Championships last season, he failed to claim a win in Season 11, though his consistent podium finishes were vital to the team’s title push.
Reflecting on his time with Porsche, da Costa said: “I’m happy that it happened instead of being sad that it ends. I raced for one of the most prestigious brands in the world – that’s an honour for me, and I’m proud that this will forever be a part of my career.”
Da Costa’s exit paves the way for Nico Müller, a Porsche works driver currently with Andretti, to step into the vacant seat alongside Pascal Wehrlein. That move would, in turn, open up opportunities at Andretti and Cupra Kiro, with Aston Martin F1 reserve Felipe Drugovich tipped to partner Jake Dennis at Andretti.
Porsche team principal Florian Modlinger paid tribute to da Costa: “António proved his class – with five victories in the Porsche 99X Electric. He impressed everyone with his racecraft and ability to read the race. We thank him for his achievements and wish him all the best.”
With da Costa’s move now confirmed, the final pieces of the Formula E driver market puzzle are falling into place. His switch to Jaguar adds another layer of intrigue to a championship already defined by fine margins, as teams prepare for the 2025/26 campaign.
