ITV extends Formula E broadcast deal to 2027 with expanded free-to-air coverage

ITV has secured a new two-year free-to-air broadcast deal with Formula E, extending its partnership with the all-electric racing championship until the end of Season 13 in 2027.

The agreement builds on a deal first signed in December 2024 and ensures continued free access for fans in the UK and Ireland.

The upcoming Season 12 (2025/26) will be the largest in Formula E history, featuring 18 races across 12 global cities. Every qualifying session will be streamed live on ITVX, while all 18 races will be broadcast either on ITV4 with ITVX simulcast, or exclusively via ITVX, with more races than ever shown live on ITV4. A weekly highlights show will also air on ITV4.

ITV will also cover the highly anticipated debut of the GEN4 Formula E car at the end of 2026.

Season 12 kicks off on 6 December 2025 in São Paulo, with new races in Madrid and Miami’s International Autodrome. Returning venues include Berlin, Tokyo and Shanghai, each hosting double-headers, while Monaco will stage back-to-back races on its iconic street circuit. The season concludes with a double-header finale in London’s ExCeL Centre (15–16 August 2026), marking the end of the GEN3 Evo era.

In line with Formula E’s sustainability commitments, the calendar has been structured to group events by continent — across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific — helping to reduce freight mileage and cut CO2 emissions.

Richard Botchway, Assistant Commissioner of ITV Sport, said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time for Formula E and we are proud to continue our partnership with them for a further two years. In what is the largest season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship so far, we will continue to bring the very best action free-to-air across ITV4 and ITVX.”

Jonathan Salt, VP, Media at Formula E, added: “Our extended partnership with ITV is fantastic news for Formula E fans across the UK and Ireland, ensuring that the thrill of the championship remains free and accessible to the widest possible audience. With our largest calendar yet and the exciting conclusion of the GEN3 Evo era, we’re looking forward to delivering incredible action to millions of homes.”

The presenting line-up of hosts, commentators and analysts for the new season will be announced ahead of the December opener.
