‘Featherweight’ Longbow Speedster to make international debut at CES 2026
The Longbow Speedster will make its international debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), taking place from January 6-9 in Las Vegas.
The British automotive startup unveiled a demo version of the Speedster behind closed doors in London in October 2025, just six months after the car was initially announced.
Weighing just 895 kilograms thanks to a bespoke aluminium chassis, Longbow describes its open-top two-seater as the “spiritual successor to British icons like the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type”, and claims it pioneers an all-new “Featherweight Electric Vehicle” (FEV) category of battery-powered drivers’ cars.
Just 150 units of the £84,995 Longbow Speedster will be manufactured, with the firm claiming that “a large percentage of total pre-orders” have already been made by US sports car enthusiasts.

Daniel Davey, Longbow’s co-founder and co-CEO, was part of the team responsible for engineering the original Tesla Roadster produced from 2008 to 2011. His experience with the all-electric sports car market gives him reason to believe the Speedster will be a success in the United States.
He commented: “Lightweight British sports cars have always held a special place in the heart of American ‘gear heads’, from the AC Ace as the foundation for the Shelby Cobra to Tesla’s collaboration with Lotus to build the very first electric sports car, the Tesla Roadster, which I had the pleasure of bringing to customers right here in the US over 15 years ago.
“Even then, it was clear to me that American sports car enthusiasts share the British passion for raw, unfiltered cars that are centred around the driver and the driving experience.”

Fellow Longbow co-founder and co-CEO, Mark Tapscott, added: “It has been amazing to see how well Longbow has been received around the world, but the response from the US has been something special. The idea of lighter cars and a more joyful driving experience has really struck a chord. It feels clear that people aren’t simply chasing faster numbers, but seeking better experiences.”
Longbow has yet to reveal the Speedster’s full technical details, but for now, we know that it’s capable of 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and uses a ‘module-to-chassis’ battery returning a 275-mile range.
The Longbow Speedster will be followed by a hardtop Roadster, priced from £64,995. In the spirit of British sports cars of yore, both will be hand-built in the UK. Following its international debut, Longbow will take the Speedster on a nationwide tour of the US.
