Alpine to introduce two electric convertibles by 2030

Alpine will add fully-electric convertible versions of its next-generation A110 and yet-to-be-named Porsche 911-rival to its range of by 2030, according to reports.

Renault’s performance brand is looking to have seven electric-only models in its roster by the time the new decade comes around. As well as the next-gen A110 which will arrive next year, these will include the A290 hot hatch, the A390 crossover, plus the French carmaker’s answer to Porsche’s iconic sports car.

Details surrounding the 911 rival are scant, but it has been reported that it will go under the A310 moniker and share its EV-only Alpine Performance Platform (APP) with the A110. Both cars will be available in coupé and convertible bodystyles.

The dedicated APP platform allows for in-wheel motors, which Renault fitted to its 533bhp, £135,000 Renault 5 Turbo 3E hyperhatch. Alpine has not confirmed whether it will fit its mass-produced road cars with this tech developed by British firm, Protean.

Alpine to add two all-electric convertibles to EV line-up by 2030

In recent years, Rimac has used in-wheel motors in its Nevera hypercar to great effect, as they give drivers better control over the power delivery and return a more precise driving experience. Volkswagen is also said to be toying with an in-wheel motor system for all-electric versions of its performance-focused R models.

The final part of Alpine’s growth plans is expected to be a large D- or E-segment SUV. The smaller of the two would rival the likes of the new Mercedes GLC and the new BMW iX3, while the larger would square up to the cars such as the Porsche Cayenne Electric and the Volvo EX90.

Pricing for the upcoming A110 and A310 are yet to be announced. With its £32,000 pricetag, the most affordable model in the Alpine range is the A290 GT. Given it also qualifies for the £1,500 electric car grant, pricing of Alpine’s smallest model is slashed to £30,500. The A390 is also available for pre-order with a £390 downpayment. Deliveries are expected to take place in early 2026.
