MGS6 EV price and specification confirmed

The new MGS6 EV has gone on sale priced from £37,995 as MG looks to challenge Skoda, Tesla and Ford in the family SUV segment.

The MGS6 is the larger SUV sibling to the MGS5 and aims to bring MG’s usual long-range, high-value proposition to the C-SUV segment.

Positioned against the Skoda Enyaq, Leapmotor C10, Citroen E-C5 Aircross and Ford Explorer, all versions of the MGS6 use a 77kWh battery for up to 329 miles of range.

Rear-wheel-drive Long Range variants come with a 241bhp motor and offer that maximum range whether buyers opt for the entry SE or mid-grade Trophy.

Above those, the Trophy Dual Motor adds a motor to the front axle for total power of 357bhp and a 0-62mph time of just 5.1 seconds, putting it in competition with the £52,000 Skoda Enyaq vRS. Predictably, the Dual Motor’s extra weight and power cut range down to 301 miles.

All three versions feature 144kW DC charging to take the battery from 10-80% in 38 minutes.

MGS6 EV interior

MG says it has worked to improve interior quality over previous models, with soft-touch finishes, stylish features such as hidden air vents, and physical controls for climate and media functions.

All versions of the MG6S come with a 10.25-inch driver instrument display and a 12.8-inch central infotainment screen with Android and Apple mirroring. Heated front seats are also standard and all versions feature an active shutter system to aid aerodynamics and efficiency.

SE models feature 19-inch alloy wheels which are upgraded to 20 inches in Trophy models. Trophy models, which start at £40,995 for the Long Range version and £43,995 for the Dual Motor also get ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, head up display, 11-speaker stereo and upgraded faux leather upholstery options. showing key vehicle and safety information as well as navigation guidance.

Orders for the MGS6 are open now and EV Powered will have a full review in the coming weeks.
