Futuristic Mazda EZ-60 interior unveiled at Shanghai motor show
Mazda has unveiled the avant-garde cabin of its all-electric EZ-60 SUV at the Shanghai motor show, after publicly displaying its exterior ahead of the event earlier this month.
The Mazda EZ-60 interior comes with a 26-inch infotainment screen spanning the width of the dashboard, plus a head-up display for the driver showing information like the speed and the remaining range. Purple interior lighting matching the exterior paint, a two-spoke steering wheel featuring Mazda’s updated font, and a contrasting black, white, and purple tri-tone finish are also visible throughout the Mazda EZ-60 interior.
According to carnewschina.com, the EZ-60 will also benefit from a 21-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, and rear occupants will receive a touchscreen allowing them to alter their climate and entertainment settings. To aid aerodynamic efficiency, the EZ-60 has done away with door mirrors, and replaced them with slimline rear-view cameras connected to screens beneath the A-pillars.

Despite the Mazda EZ-60 interior reveal, Mazda has remained largely silent about the car’s technical details. Thus far, it has only stated that its third EV will have a 47:53 weight distribution and a range of around 373 miles on China’s more liberal CLTC test cycle.
Like the upcoming Mazda 6e saloon, the EZ-60 is a joint-venture project between Mazda and Chinese manufacturer, Changan. As such, the Tesla Model Y-rivalling EZ-60 will be based on the Changan Deepal S07 SUV.
As way of reference, the Changan S07 has an 80kWh battery and a 214bhp motor on the rear axle, giving drivers a range of up to 295 miles on the stricter European WLTP test cycle. The battery can be charged at a maximum of 93kW, meaning a 30-80% charge is achievable within 35 minutes.
Despite the lack of information surrounding the all-electric EZ-60, Shanghai saw Mazda introduce a range-extender (REX) hybrid version offering a range of over 621 miles courtesy of a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 31.7kWh lithium-ion-phosphate (LFP) battery.
Like the full-EV version of the EZ-60, the hybrid is rear-wheel-drive. Keen drivers will be keen to note Mazda’s claim that the REX benefits from 50:50 weight distribution like the highly-acclaimed MX-5 sports car.
