Volkswagen ID. Buzz LWB price and specification confirmed
Volkswagen has announced that its extended ID. Buzz electric van will cost from £59,545 when it arrives in the UK later this year.
The long-wheelbase version of VW’s retro-inspired van was announced last year as a seven-seat addition to the ID. Buzz family with a larger battery as standard.
Like the standard wheelbase model, the ID. Buzz LWB is available in two trims, both equipped with a single 282bhp motor driving the rear wheels. However, it gets an 86kWh battery which should give a driving range of up to 291 miles.
The ID. Buzz Life LWB starts at £59,545 while the ID. Buzz Style LWB is priced from £64,345. All versions feature LED lights, twin sliding doors, two-zone climate control, tinted rear glass, a 12.9-inch Discover Pro touchscreen, reversing camera, and heated seats and steering wheel. Adaptive cruise control, and park assist plus are among standard ADAS features.
The Style trim upgrades the wheels from 19-inch to 20-inch alloys and adds Matrix LED headlights, power function for the side doors and tailgate, plus a head-up display and Harman Kardon premium sound system.
The LWB can also be specified with a five-or six-seat configuration, and the rear seats in the seven-seat model can be removed entirely. At 25cm longer than the regular van, the LWB offers boot space of 1,340 litres in five-seat mode, compared to 1,121 litres in the normal wheelbase model. With the second and third row seats folded, ID. Buzz LWB provides a cavernous 2,469 litres of carrying capacity, perfect, according to VW, “for carrying paragliders, bikes and surfboards”. Even in seven-seat configuration, the ID. Buzz LWB has a boot capacity of 306 litres.
Alongside the LWB, Volkswagen confirmed specifications for the more powerful ID. Buzz GTX.
Available in standard wheelbase guise with a 79kWh battery, the ID. Buzz GTX is powered by two electric motors providing four-wheel drive and a combined output of 335bhp, and is capable of 0-62mph in just 6.1 seconds.
Externally, the ID. Buzz GTX is identified by a unique front bumper treatment, plus a gloss black finish for the bespoke honeycomb grille design, the new side air guide elements, the GTX lettering and the exterior door mirror housings. A new Cherry Red solid paint finish is exclusive to ID. Buzz GTX, which can be specified with Mono Silver metallic as a two-tone paint finish. And inside, dark upholstery is finished with contrasting red stitching and piping.
On top of the regular Style spec, the GTX also adds 21-inch black alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, power seats with memory function and an exclusive Artvelour microfleece upholstery with GTX details.
